Mailing Lists for ESL Teachers

If you have questions about electronic discussion lists, or are not sure what to do, please read this help file first.

Be careful when subscribing to email lists! Some lists will get you up to (or over) 100 messages a day. Try subscribing to one and see what the volume is like before you subscribe to many lists.

If you didn't find a list here, try some of the discussion groups at Google.com. Also, for those of you "old-timers" who miss Usenet and would like your own Usenet account, think about Giganews Newsgroups. There are thousands of discussion groups on all different topics (like the sadly missed misc.education.language.english) and most email clients will allow you to read and post to the groups just like email. Unlike in the old days when you usually got Usenet access for free, there is a charge for the account, but I really enjoy Usenet and have since the early 90's. :-)
