The Learning Center in Beijing is seeking experienced native English speakers for the following positions:
Language Arts Coordinator (Middle School/High School) ONE
Language Arts Tutors (Elementary) TWO
Language Arts Tutor (Middle School/High School)ONE
Math and Science Tutors (Middle School/High School)THREE
Special Needs/ESL Coordinator ONE
Special Needs/ESL Tutors TWO
The Learning Center is an Western run tutoring center established in June of 2004. We are the only professional tutoring service in Beijing and we are expanding, with a new city center planned for March of 2009.
As our student body has grown to over 100 students, we are looking for experienced, upbeat and independent tutors to grow with us. Please note that the emphasis is on tutoring, not classroom teaching. Although we do offer workshops (maximum 8 students) and we run a successful Summer Enrichment Program, our focus is still on individual academic tutoring throughout the year.
Tutors should be exceptionally well-versed in their area of specialty and should be comfortable leading one-one classes. We will be offering tutor training and professional development throughout the year to supplement the skills of already experienced tutors.
Please note that as China has increased security surrounding the issuance of Z (work) visas, we are only able to offer visas to candidates over 25 years of age, with strong academic backgrounds. Applicants need not be certified teachers, particularly as classroom teaching varies greatly from tutoring.
Tutors work with both expatriate and local students; however the majority are attending international schools in the area surrounding our Shunyi campus. The center itself is 700 sqm with 11 classrooms, a library, and a resource room for
teachers.
Tutors should expect to work up to 25 hours out of a 30-hour work week, while Coordinators will teach up to 15 hours out of a 40-hour work week.
We offer:
- An upbeat, relaxing atmosphere, working with tutors and coordinators who are specialists in their fields.
- Z Visa (assuming all paperwork is in order)
- Western housing (not shared) with all the major amenities (TV, washing machine, internet access) OR a housing allowance up to a maximum of 4000 RMB
- Professional development: Crossroads of Learning Training and Certification, advanced level (60 hours);Positive Parenting (Teaching) Training and Certification
- Roundtrip transportation from the Wang Jing subway or employee's assigned apartment to our campus
- A salary based on qualifications and experience, of 8,000 RMB/tutors 11,000/coordinators with housing or 12,000 RMB/tutors 15,000/coordinators without housing, along with bonuses for contract renewal and longevity.
- Four weeks of paid vacation and one additional week for each contract renewal
- Flight reimbursement for 12 month contracts (not available for 10 month contracts)
