We are looking for several happy and lively teachers to teach our wonderful kids this and next year. If you are looking for a great job with a relaxed and friendly yet professional environment, plenty of training and a the greatest kids in China you should consider us. Golden Apple runs a number of kindergartens, a children's English school and an elementary school throughout Chengdu in Sichuan province China. We have an excellent reputation for treating our foreign teachers well and currently have 20 overseas teachers in our various schools. On average our teachers stay for 2 years and sometimes up to 5 or 6 years because they enjoy it so much, so we must treat people right.
A teacher's spirit is most important to us and we are MOST DEFINITELY NOT looking for super-serious boring teachers who are only capable of sending children to sleep. Our most important conditions for choosing new teachers are cheerfulness, liveliness and a willingness to learn.
We need:
(Late June 2008) 1 full-time English teacher - 6000 RMB/month + benefits 22 teaching hours per week - no evenings or weekends (involves travelling once a week)
(June 2008) 1 full-time English teachers - 4,800 RMB/month + benefits ave. 17 teaching hours per week - mostly morning/no weekends (Aug. 2008) 4 half-time English teachers -
(Late July 2008) 1 full-time English teacher - 6000 -7000 RMB/month + benefits 25 teaching hours per week - no evenings or weekends
(Sept 2008) 4 half-time English teachers -
4000-4500 RMB/month + benefits 15 hours teaching per week - only mornings/no weekends
* Actual time in the class is less than indicated above.
* Absolutely no weekend work and 80% of afternoons and evenings free.
* 6000 Yuan (approx 800USD) at the end of the year to help defray travel expenses.
* All necessary legal living and working certificates including visas, foreign expertís certificate, residence permit, residence registration, etc.
* Private accommodation complete with all basic living necessities.
* Optional extra teaching hours at other Golden Apple schools or kindergartens: paid at 100-120 Yuan per hour.
* All Chinese holidays: Chinese New Years Day, Chinese Spring Festival, May Day holidays, National Day holidays, and one additional holiday on Christmas Day.
* Two weeks additional paid vacation, when signing a one year contract. Please note there are no summer vacations!
We may not match up to East Coast China in terms of money but certainly surpass then in friendliness, great working conditions and the chance to experience a more traditional side of China. I should emphasize that we are not an agency, we are a direct employer and most of our employees love working here!

Our requirements are as follows:
Our pay may not be able to match those high paying jobs in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing or the East coast in general (itís not economically possible for us) but the experience you have here in the REAL China will far outweigh such a small consideration and I guarantee youíll be treated far better than some of the schools over there.
Of course, we are legally required that teachers MUST have a university degree and at least 2-3 yrs work experience preferably related to teaching (but not a necessity) and some experience teaching children would be nice. Apart from that we also hope our teachers will have the following character traits and experience: Please note that we DO NOT accept applications from Asian countries such as the Philippines and India or from Africa.
* People from USA, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand only
* University degree in any subject
* MUST have at least 2-3 years full-time work experience in any profession but preferably teaching
* Some experience with kids
* Lively and cheerful personality
* Energetic and full of life
* Responsible and safety conscious
* Hard working and reliable
* Enjoy acting and performing
* Dedicated to their work
* Well developed moral and common sense
* Loves children and kindergarten work
* In good health
* Willing to learn
* No criminal record or outstanding warrants for arrest, especially for child related offenses (we have had pedophiles apply for jobs more than once, which is quite scary, so we do check) Our apologies if stating this offends you in any way.
It may sound like asking a lot for a teacher but we have found these traits make by far the best teachers, so if you love kids and think you fit the bill we would love to hear from you.
Please note: It is a fundamental philosophy of our school that we do not just want English teachers, we want teachers who use English as a natural language and teach the whole child. It is an important difference to us!
